I read it. Could have been a lot shorter. It chronicles pretty much every single gig he ever played. Why? Also a bit painful to read that he hasn't really made a good album since his RCA period (and I don't even like those records much). His entire 1950s output is still good enough to warrant the title colossus though.

Bad take ngl, actual biographies provide way more information, presented more concisely, and (sometimes) written more eloquently/stylishly than a typical interview. Biographies are well-researched, meticulously edited, less censored, etc. Although I'm biased because I just read and/or listen to a lot of books in general.
Rollins isn't your typical 50s/60s jazz artist. His biography reveals how much more extraordinary he is/was then a lot of people realize. You get his whole life's story chronologically, not just a few off-the-dome conversations from arbitrary days he happened to do an interview.

Miles/Mingus and co are the pinnacle of the genre but real jazz fans listen to them so much they get to samey and eventually fresh second rate stuff sounds better than familiar first rate groups.

I know it's cliche, but this album is a top5 favorite albums of all time for me
it's perfect, an absolute gem in Coltrane's discography, and has opened my ears and heart to so much more in jazz
from the first time I've listened to it, a decade ago, I have gotten to know a lot more incredible music from the genre, but I always come back to it bewildered by its magnitude
do you also think it's worthy of its reputation as one of the greatest pieces of the genre, or it's overrated?
