Past a certain age, a man that still listens to rap music and rock music can be a bad thing

Rap - yes
But rock and metal have transcended ages. A metal fest has the entire spectrum from teenagers to grandpas.

Rock is just "everything". It incorporates anything, condense to a headybang catchy form. Classical, blues, Mediterranean folk tunes, children's choirs...

Metal is one of the best genres.
It's high energy music that can pump you up, inspire you, tell a good story.
Also, a singer is not really that good if he/she cannot be good at metal. Good metal singers can eat other genres like a piece of cake.
Sure, the vomit that a lot of the /mu/ kids in the /metal/ general post is not very good.
But even the sub-genre literally named trash metal serves the need for aggressive music well.

It doesn't die for this reason >>127128848
It's dynamic and allows constant reinvention like nothing else. No limited to styles, instruments, number of band members, production methods, nothing. There are no rules. You're just focusing on one thing.
Maybe this is why zoomers hate it and end up trooning out. Too many preconceived notions rather than the large platform of creativity that it is.

Rock needs no defense.
But if you don't like rap, it's only because you never got into it beyond the absolute most superficial level. You turned on the radio, heard Nicki Minaj and checked out.

Not really, these genres are very broad. I agree to an extent tho, if you're listening to "Opium" rap music or hedonistic shit like that in your 20s you might need to take a look at yourself

Rap would be cool if it picked up from Africa Bambaataa. Maybe early PE if I'm being nice. It's been downhill since.
