>People think if the Beatles didn’t exist music wouldn’t be the same
I disagree, perhaps, have you ever thought about what would be modern music without Black Sabbath in the first place?

Sabbath are a "mother sauce" band much like the Beatles, Beach Boys, Big Star and the Velvet Underground

I think "spice" is more fitting. How many sauces can you use? You can always use more spices though..

Terrible chart. NWOBHM and NWOAHM are not connected. What is Sabbath's industrial metal influence? Why does it include not-metal, super-not-metal, and nonexistent metal genres?

I struggle to hear ANY Sabbath influence on power metal. That style is more Deep Purple/and especially Rainbow.

How does black metal come before doom metal and how does stoner metal come AFTER?

The title track from Black Sabbath’s debut in 1970 is pure doom, and Sweet Leaf from 1971 cannot be described as anything other than stoner metal.

Black metal came a full decade later in 1981.

Ginger Baker's words come to mind when I see that image.
>people say Cream gave birth to heavy metal. If that's so, we should have had an abortion.

>black metal -> doom metal -> stoner metal
How does this make any sense? The first Black Sabbath album in 1970 is pure doom, and Sweet Leaf in 1971 is stoner metal. Black metal came a decade later in 1981.

Elvis predates Chuck Berry
Also I never understood why Kraftwerk are always put ahead of Tangerine Dream who came before them.

Black Sabbath was literally just a Jefferson Airplane ripoff band. They didn't invent shit.

dio-era sabbath seems influential (but i suppose more dio than sabbath-related)
rainbow was also influenced by early sabbath, which makes it an indirect influence

but yeah, overall power metal is the least sabbath-influenced genre, if not devoid

Judas Priest came from the same town and were their contemporaries. They were certainly very influential as well. Without Sabbath you would still have bands like them and Deep Purple around. Metal would still have evolved probably just differently

Cool looking chart, but I strongly disagree with some of those genres existing and some of the directions on those arrows.

How was Black Sabbath not directly responsible for Doom? You mean to tell me that bands like Candlemass, Witchfinder General, and Pentagram were off-shoots of a genre that didn't exist yet?

If I didn't have to go to bed I would autistically fix this chart.
