For me it was in Denver's Ozzfest 2007. I was a junior in high school and I got the tickets for free after purchasing his newest album at the time (Black Rain). Lordi's "Hard Rock Hallelujah" was the song of the summer. In This Moment was brand new and playing their metalcore which i thought was pretty fuckin good desu. Saw Wayne Static before his untimely passing.

Life was so simple then

Seeing Black Sabbath actually play LOLLAPALOOZA in 2012.
Well, at least 3/4 of Black Sabbath, since Bill wasn't playing drums, but I saw 3/4 of the original line up, so that was pretty cool.

Going to 5 Ozzfests from 03 to 07. I was a junior too and convincing my parents to let me and my friends drive 250 miles to go see a show was a damn hard sell on my part. The lineup was Ozzy, Korn, Marilyn Manson, Disturbed and Chevelle. Still have each show's tshirt too!

The only time I saw Black Sab live was at Hellfest 2014. We were literal kids, but all stoner dudes and fans of Sabbath, Electric Wizard, etc.
Any I spent all day drinking and smoking, I barely ate half a disgusting food truck kebab during the day. Come Black Sabbath at 11PM on the main stage. We pull out a doobie; and a legit qt3.14 my age comes out of the crowd with her girl friends and passes me a bottle of screwdriver (vodka-orange for teh faggots) and I pass her the doobie. We vibe, we smile at each other, not saying a word just connecting...

And there I fucking black out. I wake up 50m from the crowd on the ground with my friends and big bearded dudes surrounding me asking if I'm okay. The girls are gone.
I never went full-on self-destruct mode since. This Black Sabbath experience taught me a lesson. The concert was great. Bill was not there it was the RATM drummer.
I learned my limits thanks to Ozzy. He made me a man.

I realized this after seeing Sepultura in 2021 I think? Yeah, I got shitfaced and definitely had fun at the moment but I don't remember it.
I limit my intake to 2-3 beers now or some weed (not all the weed anymore.)

I still do but never to the extent that I'm fucked up even before seeing the first act(s) like I did back then. Before Hellfest I went to concerts and raves and I was always puking and fucking dying before anyone unbuttoned the top of their shirt. I was a dumb faggot kid.
I kinda hate young-me for this but I mostly cringe rather than fucking roll into my bed at night in pure disgust. Since then I'd rather take performance-enhancing drugs and get slightly tipsy, and this allowed me to find a loving gf and have fun with my friends instead of literally fucking dying every tiem.

Bonus pic: us at the hotel after the Hellfest. Room 666, wasn't ours but we actively tried to find it see if it was real.
We were in a boring room but we hotboxed the fuck out of it. We each took a bath there and the bathtub was full of sand.
We didn't pay for the hotel, it was the French rail company that did because they were on strike and we couldn't cross the country to get back home.

Ozzfest 2002 in the UK was the only time I ever saw Ozzy. Still in the last few months of High School. First ever festival. Seeing all the debauchery it entailed. Hot bikini impromptu mud-wrestling. The heavens opening up for Cradle of Filth. Women in their late 30’s grinding all over me despite being barely 16. Ozzy’s set starting with a trailer for this weird new reality TV show he was making. Ozzy having to wear a hat and coat complaining it was too cold. Him dropping his pants to show off his ass. The first time I had ever heard ‘Mama I’m coming home’ and it was a festival at the legendary Donington Racetrack with 65000 people singing it back to him. I started a long-standing tradition then of taking a moment to just turn around and take in the crowd all singing along.

I’ve been to dozens of Downloads and Leeds and Slam Dunk festivals in the years since. But none of them held that same classic festival spirit that Ozzy could put on with Ozzfest back in the day.

Went to Ozzfest '02 my junior year. September in Phoenix meant that I was dehydrated and sunburnt for like a week afterwards but it was awesome. Headliners were Ozzy (solo), Rob Zombie, and System of a Down so it was a good lineup. I also remember P.O.D. and Adema, and Hatebreed and Meshuggah were on the 2nd stage. Looking at Wikipedia, looks like Lostprophets (lol) were there too. Oh, and Drowning Pool was supposed to be on the main stage but the singer died a couple weeks before my show.

Wish I could have gone in '04 or '05 when it was Sabbath with Priest and Maiden, respectively. I remember hearing Maiden was a shitshow after a certain point because they pissed off Sharon

I saw him for the first time with Black Sabbath in 2001 when I was a teenage chud. My brother's girlfriend got me high and then Ozzy Osbourne said EVERYBODY GO FUCKING CRAZY!!!! So I went crazy. I saw him again several more times and the last time Black Sabbath toured in the US during 2016-2017 timeline. But nothing will ever compare to first time.

This. The founding fathers of metal are passing. Once the old guard all pass, zoomers will only have djent and bedroom youtube shredders to fill out bowling alleys.
