There are so many Iommi-isms in Cantrell's playing. You are the one that needs your ears checked.

yeah totally, a grunge band trying to make it big in the early 90s will be influenced by fuckin Sabbath and not something actually good. It's funny cause its the opposite really ,Sabbath ripped off AiC sound and vibe with picrel, whole album especially the song Virtual Death

There's a bit of Sabbath in all Grunge. But Jerry didn't really solo or riff like Iommi other than the power chord grooving. If he got into single notes, he leans into Phrygian more. Gave him that exotic/snakecharmer thing, like you hear in stuff like Would? or What the Hell Have I. The OG snakecharmer is Blackmore. Not Iommi. But I don't know if Jerry ever said Ritchie was a big influence either. He was influenced by Rhoads though.

Jerry has literally based his entire guitar tone and riffs off of what Tony Iommi was doing. They wore their love for Sabbath on their sleeves. It why Alice brutally mogs every other "grunge" band from that Seattle music scene. Their shit went way harder

Iommi stayed in pentatonics. Jerry didn't. But a lot of the grooving is Sabbath inspired, sure. But you don't need to exaggerate the details of every player's riffs.
