Why is nobody talking about the scourge of AI upscaling of pre-HD music videos on YouTube? They're replacing old videos with these dogshit versions and scrubbing the existence of good quality versions from the internet because anytime you upload copyrighted music anywhere, it's immediately taken down. So unless you've archived all these old music videos over the years, you're never going to be able to see them in anything resembling acceptable quality ever again.
>he was a boy
>she was a girl
>can I make it more obvious
huh? whats obvious? a boy and a girl? what does it mean?
this is so confusing
>>127149587 (OP)I saw a used DVD with a bunch of music videos including this one on it at the store the other day for $4. Thought about picking it up for the luls but figured I'd only ever touch it once. Now maybe there's a quest out there for someone to track down things like that to rip and upload somewhere better than JewTube.
Not OP, decided to look up an old Sleater-Kinney music video to do my own comparison. It appears to be a case by case basis and a lot of bands like Paramore and Muse didn't opt in.
Whatever AI upscaler they're using seems to mainly be focused on removing artifacts and making hair look better. It literally does not add any detail to the video and at times you can see very subtle warping during scene transitions. So in addition to ruining the original upload it doesn't even do anything.
I mean really, this image should speak for itself. Yeah, it's a decent way to fool people into thinking they're looking at an improved image, but you're just polishing a turd. There is no way the computer screen would still look like this at 1080p, it's just not possible.
Oh and the best part is I had to go to Vimeo to grab the top screencap. It doesn't exist anywhere else.
>>127150635Every music video I've looked for on YouTube either has a disgusting smoothing filter to get rid of all the film grain and detail, or the even worse AI upscaling/sharpening filter that looks like diarrhea. A lot of music videos are just going to become lost media in the future because nobody really cares enough about preserving them like they do with movies and tv shows.
