The highs are definitely there like Tonight Tonight, Thru the Eyes of Ruby and 1979 but most of the record feels so mid. Has anyone else soured on it?

it's still an 8/10. here is no why, to forgive, cupid de locke, muzzle and stumbleine are great. but obviously the whole thing is far from siamese dream, the greatest alternative album of all time.

Was always the way for me. I was a massive Siamese Dream fan and kinda miffed for years at the change of direction.

It's grown on me since, but I can't fathom why they left Aeroplane Flies High off it for some of the total wank on there like Lily and Take Me Down.

The best songs on Mellon Collie are Here is No Why and Where Boys Fear to Tread. 1979 is overrated New Order pastiche.

but MCIS is perfect as is, weakest track To Forgive but it's still needed

I had and loved Siamese Dream, but never got around to buying Melloncollie. Bullet with Butterfly Wings is fucking great though. Some people put the lyrics down as "puerile" or whatever but I think they're great confessional lyrics.
