Anyway, Venus Doom is obviously their best album. I'm really impressed with how well they combined doom metal and pop rock, and it's impressive that it came so late in their career, especially since their sound trajectory had just been getting softer and softer.

GLS has the greatest guitar tone of any HIM albums.
I'm pretty sure some of the squishy gated fuzz sounds are a fuzz factory but they were also in B standard (occasionally drop A) on that album and that had a lot to do with it.
Some of the songs sound like a similar fuzz is on the bass too from what I can tell
