it's odd that we never saw rap rock really blow up as much as it could
quite a few rap artists tend to look around other genres to blend with their music and take it a step further, but rap rock was mostly a novelty of the late 90s/early 00s
was it put down by glowies for being too outspoken and political? we all know trap an mainstream rap are CIA-funded to push drug use and consumerism in black communities and dismantle political action

A similar thing happened with big beat. There was an active effort to make sure that rock didn't mix with other genres to maintain relevancy.

RATM, Faith no More and Linkin Park had tons of fans
it just didn't go further than the early 00s
plus, you could say the same about jazz rap, that no jazz fans would enjoy it, but it's still held in high regard as a subgenre by music fans and critics
