>Elvis's greatest fear was that he would never be remembered by anyone. Shortly before his death, he spoke to his backing singer Kathy Westmoreland about his mother, his pain, and his place in history. โ€œHow will they remember me?โ€ he asked over and over again. โ€œTheyโ€™re not going to remember me. Iโ€™ve never done anything lasting. Iโ€™ve never done a classic film to show what I can do.โ€

Well he's kind of being forgotten by the younger generation, but that's gonna happen to most musicians anyway.

Truly heartbreaking.
You were beautiful and amazing, King.
Some of us still appreciate you and cherish every second we are graced by your presence and voice. No one could ever be as great as you were Elvis.

What a whiney fat bitch. Does he think his cleaning lady is remembered by anyone. Does he worry that the guy who delivered his burgers and pills never made a classic film, or never got to make a film at all.

No, he's not; there's been a revival in interest due to some memes (specifically after a viral joke "fun fact" video claiming famous songs were actually originally sung by Elvis which ends with his singing the Rick and Morty theme song and Chief Keef)

It sounds like he's talking about being stifled by the Colonel tbqh. There was some weird thing going on with Col Parker and Elvis where Elvis would occasionally get sick of Parker's bullshit and go into his office intending to fire him, then he'd come out later and Parker would not be fired.

There was a theory that Parker was massively in debt to the mafia because of his addiction to gambling and that this had something to do with it given that Elvis was the cash cow.

Andreas Cornelis van Kuijk was a fucking retard, a carny con artist that killed a woman named Anna van den Enden before fleeing like the faggot little pussy he was.

I know all of that, the guy was a complete prick and a lot of the memphis mafia were unhappy with how he was running Elvis into the ground with non stop touring as well as never leaving the country because he was an illegal alien and suspect for murder.

That's what makes it seem so strange that Elvis never fired him even when he apparently intended to.

Honestly, if more people were aware that he did all of that and witch hunted him and such, Elvis would have lived a lot longer than he did and maybe even taken that well-needed vacation and such that he needed, and maybe even gone on a huge diet and whatnot and drop all that weight and get back into top shape and lived a good, long life. And if his dad wasn't a fucking sniveling little fuckboy for Tom Parker and his lies and shady past.

But alas, we never ended up in that timeline. It fucking sucks.

would you say that he had a... suspicious mind?

I think he was actually on to something, considering what a massive legend he was at one time, his stuff from the single-driven era are almost forgotten now and the movies are crap

Aloha from Hawaii was also a massive thing when it happened, but he couldn't know that it would actually become widely available later for us to watch these days

at least he managed to make one really great LP

>That joke
Fucking lmao, that's a pretty top-tier joke, may I use and save it?

That said, yeah, those movies are pretty laughably awful, and yeah, those singles are pretty much all but practically dead, which is a shame, a lot of them are pretty good.

I do agree with you on the "Aloha From Hawaii" was huge, and if Elvis had lived, I'm sure he would've enjoyed and been a part of Live Aid maybe.

yeah, I think if he had known that tracks from Aloha From Hawaii have tens of millions of views in the 2020's, he would have rested easy, but I don't think it was too much of a stretch for him ot be afraid that everything he did could have just faded away from public consciousness in ten or twenty years

As much as Parker and the intense touring / drugs killed Elvis, I don't think he'd have lived that long in general. Supposedly some of his health problems were a result of 'Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency', which is a result of inbreeding at some point in his family tree.
His mother died of a heart attack at a similar age to him, plus she also had cirrhosis (this was assumed to be from drinking but it can also be caused by the genetic problem). Elvis apparently had emphysema even though he barely ever smoked in his entire life, which is another thing that can be caused by this.

Wonderfully said. He need not ever worry about that. If there are discussions about music then there will be discussions about Elvis. Simple as.

Yeah, that's definitely a legitimate concern. If only he knew that, even way into the 2020s, people still enjoy his music, he probably would have been happy.

>Open a new tab
>Do a search for "Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency"
>"Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency is a genetic condition that results in low levels of a protein called alpha-1 antitrypsin, which protects the lungs and liver from damage."
>Do a bit more digging
>Learn that it may have descended from Elvis' maternal grandparents being 1st cousins

I knew his mother was a drinker (considering that she was so rightfully worried about Elvis joining the military for ~2 years) and how her death affected him deeply, but for it to be Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency definitely changes everything. I'm sure that if Elvis' maternal grandparents weren't 1st cousins, he surely would have had a pretty long, good life. But alas...
