i'd like to start a music collection, but i can't decide if i should go with vinyl or cd.

is it true that vinyls last longer than cds? i've heard that most cds go to shit after 15-20 yrs. is this true?

Vinyl records deteriorate slightly in sound quality after every spin, just fyi

Some stuff is only on cassette btw, like black metal.
It takes less space too.

You can digitize a cd collection with a DVD drive and windows I know you can digitize vinyl but it's not as easy, and personally I think vinyl looks like shit on a shelf like hmmm yes what cracked faded paper envelope in a plastic sleeve should I listen to today.

But I'm biased I have a 4 foot stack of cds 4 wide by 3 tall

I think thats cd-r's. Storebought cd's dont age if you handle em normally. Maybe some discrot did occur somewhere (prob asia lol), but overal its a pretty safe music media device
