The internet completely destroyed the concept of rarity or niche. Anyone can find anything if they put in even the barest amount of effort. That super underground 60s band that was only ever popular with a tiny niche community? Full discography on youtube with 1 million + views on every video. People say the internet killed the monoculture, but I think it's the exact opposite. Everything's just jumbled up in a giant bag now, and that IS the monoculture.

I have to admit it was more fun listening to LRD before boring music nerds found them but they're still my favorite band. Gerogerigege is still funny. I haven't listened to the comeback album that people jizzed over. Fushitsusha/ Keiji Haino is rewarding if you dig through crates of shit to find the gems

Everything is accessible but there's still stuff that gets overlooked. I find cool albums with only a few listeners all the time. Also, time still exists. No matter how much time someone spends discovering music they'll always have humongous blinds spots of vast swathes of artists and scenes they haven't explored.

I don't think so. Even on this board all everyone ever talks about is pop and hiphop. Even with the information at their fingertips the average normie will simply never decide to delve deeper into an interest.

LRD and Fushitsusha are bad examples because they have one million releases (bootlegs for LRD) so if you just listen to one that isn't bolded on RYM it's probably still pretty good and you can feel superior to the average tourist fan. Seriously 99% of LRD and Fushitsusha fans just listen to 77 Live, the new remastered shows on Spotify, 1st and Pathetique. Even just listening to Double Heads puts you in top 10% of LRD fans.

I have a huge thing for like 5/10 asian girls. I see them all the time when I'm out shopping or going to and from work but not when I go out to bars and shit. I don't think they would enjoy being approached at the grocery store or whatever. Is there a place that they congregate where I can mingle with them?

True, it's a well known and documented fact that all the older talented artists never ever found or listened to any obscure experimental music, and that they were only inspired by mainstream music.
So of course when underground acts became more accessible, music went to complete shit!!!!!!

gatekeeping bands you like is only about being cool -- and depriving those bands of a bigger audience

I know that confuses the Ethan so put it this way:
those cool bands are made up of humans
humans who need to pay for food and rent and electricity and heat
and people like you who think of these bands like your own little hot house tomatoes you can stress to make them juicier are forcing them to have to abandon making music so they can eat, you uncreative arrogant middle-class angsty consoomer cunt

nah. anything that gets too popular ultimately will begin catering to a wider audience and ultimately water down their art and make it more generic.
