I really like some of the newer releases actually.
This chart probably needs an update, there's some like the Purification album I'd probably remove for something else (stylistically very cool but musically not great on repeated listens).

There's a lot of imitative, uninspired, or gimmicky crap out there, but that was the case in past eras of metal too. Now there's just more, and a class of journalists and large metal labels which let the slop proliferate.

I really feel sorry for todays metal bands, but musicians have always been idiots when it comes to promotion and managing, so they are a victim of their own stupidity by not being able to clean up social media so good bands can come through
