Smartphones, by making people overthink and be self-conscious, the best way to diminish nonchalance. Classic, but only mildly. And not that good of a soundtrack in 2025 unless it's that opening track on Our Love To Admire.

Nothing makes you realize how uncool some celebrity actually is like seeing their Twitter profile.

It's mainly 2025's fault for being so bleak and chaotic/batshit insane. Not a lot of music from the past fits the emotional atmosphere of 2025 and the new music refuses to reflect the times in any honest way because it can't. It's just impossible for anyone to keep up with everything that's going on anymore... It's also not easy for artists to identify or confront the terrifying reality of the world in 2025. Escapism becomes a form of dishonesty and thus cringe.

That's why a track like Pioneer to the Falls works since it's the darkest and most melancholy of Interpol's catalogue. It sounds like a world casually drifting to its demise down a river into a waterfall. Whereas the stuff off the classic first albums is either a lighter kind of melancholy or too upbeat and doesn't fit the mood.

Happened more than a couple of times for me. And sometimes it's the opposite.

Happened more than a couple of times for me. And sometimes it's the opposite where the Twitter is normal and you go "phew!"
