>defunded, so no more tiny desk forever
How do we cope, bros?
It’s not all gone. Our NPR affiliate in DFW only got about eight percent of its funding from the corporation for public broadcasting, which is the federal funding stuff. It’s a similar percentage in most big cities. It’s the rural stations that will most likely cease to operate. I have an acquaintance who operates a NPR station in Alaska: his station’s funding is seventy percent funded by federal funds. He doesn’t expect the station to keep operating after the funding stops in a month or two. For the big city stations, all this means is longer pledge drive periods, but the NPR music station generally plays better music pledge drive week, so it may not be all bad.
Really? Is it really canceled? Tiny Desk is really canceled?
>>127180621 (OP)Why was the government funding some gay indie music that only appeals to white people in Brooklyn anyway? I could understand if they were playing classical or jazz as you could argue that's edifying, but it's always some crap band like Modest Mouse or something.
>>127181726should they be funding Kid Rock or buttmetal instead?
>>127181726why does the goverment subsides the cornfed mema fats that live in flyover country

>>127181772That would be funny if they did.
On that note I've known they were suspect since the 90s. This is not surprising.
>>127186207They're just liberal. Not terrorists and misguided incels and troons.
I’ve been listening to their Atlanta station this evening, they play nice classic jazz. Duke Ellington and Billie Holiday thus far
