What is your favorite genre or subgenre that never took off? Mine is electro swing and hyperpop. Only the same few songs pop up every time. There are countless trap and dubstep songs even after all these years.

Much as I liked electroswing it doesn't seem like there was much scope for it to grow considering it was just sampling and milking a small pool of 1920s swing tunes. Hauntology was another interesting genre that seems to have died.

They could have made new unique songs like Caravan Palace did or turn every song into an electro swing song the way trap and dubstep did.

Nerd rock. Lemon demon and they might be giants are basically the only successful acts.
