Why do popular albums from the 2000's sound sooo dated compared to albums from previous eras?

Not OP, that’s Lily Allen, love her, she doesn’t make music much anymore but her song with Benee was good, have a listen.

Because they're recent enough to be in memory but far enough to be able to notice past trends.

because popular music of the 2000's and 90's as well, were never cutting edge, nor avant-garde, just derivative boring shit
The only popular artist from the 200' that actually sounded fresh and avant-garde was Nicki Minaj with tracks like "Ass" and "Stupid Hoe"

Horribly tasteless trashy aesthetics arguably the single most trashy decade of popular culture in the last century. Also none of the music was interesting at all.

Organic scenes had died out by the 2000s so all producers could do was make up shit on the fly.

LDN is kind of a guilty pleasure. For some reason it was trendy in the 2000s to sample that kind of carribean/calypso music in pop songs, before it went out of fashion overnight. The Avalanches did it all the time which is why I associate so strongly with that era
