Arguably the most polarizing Sabbath album - some people put it up with their best and others say it's worse than Forbidden.

Where do you stand on it? Was Gillan and Sabbath an inherently bad combination?

gillan fit in sabbath more naturally than dio, but he blew his voice on this album

I think both that one and Forbidden are great. Not a fan of the other Tony Martin records.

They were actually the perfect combination. It's a shame they only stuck together for an album and a tour.

I just think Gillan was just a mismatch for Sabbath, his lyrics are quite funny but Sabbath isn't meant to be funny. Also while Gillan and Iommi became good buddies, Gillan and Geezer didn't like each other. Gillan's blamed Geezer for the infamous mix and said he ruined the album for the sake of putting the bass so high up, Geezer's said Gillan was an arrogant drunk that was impossible to work with and saw him ditching Sabbath for the Purple reunion as a betrayal. So it was never going to work as a long term thing by the sounds of it.

it might have been decent if Tony Iommi could shred

it's fucking great, alcohol fueled fun from top to bottom, Fallen should've been on it, I think with a better production and packaging it would've been better regarded, figners crossed it gets the Forbidden treatment, it would murder
