>Phase A โ€“ Black Sabbath to Vol. 4
Right out of the gate, early albums are heavy, atmospheric, slow-burning, and often feel genuinely sinister. Absolutely legendary output, no notes. 10/10

>Phase Aโ€ฒ โ€“ Sabbath Bloody Sabbath & Sabotage
By this point, they're not the only 'metal' band anymore, there's i.e. Judas Priest but they sound more like heavy glam rockers at this time. Sabbath goes prog. Some of their best songs and some absolute misfires. Peaks are high (Megalomania, A National Acrobat, The Writ), but the inconsistency starts to show. 8/10

>Phase B โ€“ Technical Ecstasy & Never Say Die!
Now they're playing catch up. It's not terrible music, but it barely resembles what made Sabbath unique in the first place. There were already a dozen other bands doing this and more effectively. Magic is fading fast. 6/10

>Phase C โ€“ Heaven and Hell, Mob Rules
For a brief moment, the band seems revitalized. But while this is a new kind of Sabbath, it's also one trying to chase contemporary metal. Good albums but they don't quite reach the innovation or atmosphere of Phase A. 8/10

>Phase D โ€“ Born Again to Tyr
Sabbath is lost chasing trends, rotating vocalists, and throwing ideas at the wall. Born Again is awful. Martin is a technically solid but has zero stage presence. There's good material buried in here (Headless Cross mostly for me), but it's drowned in tryhard energy. 4/10

>Phase Cโ€ฒ โ€“ Dehumanizer
Dehumanizer almost succeeds. It's heavy, focused, and thematically darker. If the band had stuck together and built on this momentum, they might have had a real second act. Instead, they implode again. 7/10

>Phase Dโ€ฒ โ€“ Cross Purposes to 13
This is Sabbath in zombie mode. Cross Purposes is a lukewarm attempt to recreate Dehumanizer but with Martin. Forbidden is just dreadful. Star Producer Rick Rubin had the right idea trying to return the band to their roots, but it seems the band was confused by it. Still, 13 is their best since 1992. 3/10

They would've been, Iommi still 100% owned the Sabbath name until 2010. It was largely done just so Sharon couldn't have any grounds to interfere, remember that the Osbourne camp were furious that Tony and Geezer got back together with Dio for that compilation.

Here's my take/opinions
>First four BS albums
CLASSIC!
ALL GOAT!
THE BEST ERA OF BS EVER!
>Sabbath Bloody Sabbath-Sabotage
Great albums, but, now they drug addictions ave taken hold, and they no longer sound original, but a parody of their former selves.
It's like they're not even trying. It's more like a formula that has worked in the past. Noting new or innovative, like the first four album.
>Technical Ecstasy-Never Say Die
By now everybody is a coke head or heroin addict, and it shows not only in the music, but in the album productions. The music itself is ruined by the slickness, and sterility of the production. However, these are not bad albums, with TE being the stronger of the two I M H O, but there's a reason why they are considered te worst of the Ozzy era.
>Heaven and Hell-Mob Rule-Live Evil
Great albums, great music, and tis was te kick in the ass the band needed.
However... this is NOT BS in the classic sense tat we knew and grew up with.
That doesn't change the fact that the music was good, but they should've changed their name. Also Live Evil is mixed. The Dio songs are good, but only OZZY cold sing the pre-Dio stuff, and they shouldn't have even done the Ozzy songs, let alone put out a live album with somebody else singing them.
There's a reason why Speak of The Devil outsold Live Evil.
>Born Again
The LAST GOAT BS ALBUM EVER!
Again, it doesn't sound like BS in the classic sense, but this is a great album nonetheless.

I'll admit to not hearing either Dehumanizer, or Headless Cross, but everything after Born Again is complete, and utter SHIT!
It's just Tony Iommi dragging te good name of Black Sabbath through the mud to fulfill contractual obligations, feed his drug addiction, and pay the bills.
Fuck, on many of these albums, Tony is the only original member, and it's BS in name, only!

>Ozzy era
only album that sucks is Technical Ecstasy and 13 is meh for the most part. Great for the most part and doesn't really need to have much said about it
>Dio era
pretty good, not as good as the heights of Ozzy era but pretty good, TDYK is also kinda meh
>Born Again
half good (The Fallen, Zero The Hero, Keep It Warm Trashed), half bad (the rest)
>Seventh Star
terrible, title track is the only decent song
>Eternal Idol
surprisingly decent, lot of cool riffs, but generic 80s production and Coverdale clone singer drag it down
>Headless Cross
worst thing released under the Sabbath name, shlocky 80s hair metal drenched in cheesy synths and simplistic loud drumming
>Tyr
not as bad as Seventh Star and Headless Cross but still bad, Anno Mundi and Sabbath Stones are the only decent songs and SS is just the Wizard riff slowed down
>Cross Purposes
surprisingly decent, also has some cool riffs and is saved by a better production and probably the best drummer to play for Sabbath since Bill
>Forbidden
bad, not as bad as SS, HC or Tyr, but still bad with a couple of decent songs (Rusty Angels, Get A Grip)

I'd group all of the first 6 together. Or if you absolutely have to separate them then put Vol. 4 in with SBS and Sabotage. That's really when they started taking prog influences. And I'd rate all 6 of those albums 10/10.

I also have a higher opinion of "Phase D" and the final phase than you seem to, but beyond that I mostly agree with what you posted.
