This will likely go down in retrospect as one of the most historically significant concerts since it's Ozzy and likely Sabbath's (unless Iommi and friends REALLY wanted to get back together with Tony Martin or one of the Deep Purple guys still alive in their 80's) final onstage appearance. I torrented a recording of the PPV stream and honestly it was great, every artist was playing in top form except...

>Alice in Chains
Seems like they've been struggling as a live band in recent years. William Duvall is getting older now (contrary to popular belief he's around the same age as Layne Staley not younger) and he kinda sounds like Kermit the Frog when he tries to sing the higher notes especially on the older songs.

And...

>Guns 'n Roses
You can tell Axl is really trying and he can still hit the low notes fine most of the time but his voice is fucked and he sounds like shit trying to hit the higher notes.

What did /mu/ think about Back to the Beginning?

they had a show the night before so that's why axl was struggling. sure he doesn't sound like he does in 91, but he does not normally sound that bad. when you're older your voice needs more rest.

They could just change their name to Headless Cross or something like they did when the Dio lineup reformed in the late-2000's as "Heaven & Hell."

I don't think there's enough reverence for Martin era Sabbath for it to happen anyway.

Alice in Chains wasn't that great on that concert because they havent played live together in 3-4 years, and also their last album was from 7 years ago.Jerry has been doing live shit with his solo band for the past 3 years, and maybe thats why the chemistry wasn't there, also maybe theres some tension within the band,i wouldn't be surprised if William gets fired soon and replaced.

I thought Corgan was fine, he didn't sound any worse than he has playing with the Pumpkins in recent years but if you dislike Corgan in general then it was probably grating.

Lamb of God I thought was fine too but I don't listen to them a lot.

Pantera was okay you can tell the band is missing something since Darrell and Vinnie are both dead but Zakk and Phil were good.

I'm watching it now, half way through, and I liked the covers that yungblud and Lzzy Hale did so far better than the rest, they put a lot of energy into them. AiC and Gojira got a little fucked on the soundboard. And Corgan got carried by the rest of the musicians there, his voice was a bit shit.

Plenty of it left to watch, luckily, i'm enjoying the whole thing so far.

It looked very staged to me.
It just does not make biological sense to see someone sing live then die 2 weeks later. Someone on his deathbed can't make such an effort.
So they must have used some previous live tapes.

But otherwise it was an ok show. I liked Metallica's energetic performance, you could see people around them look wowed, even though the crowd itself seemed kinda lethargic.

Axl made a complete fool of himself, he shouldn't have performed if he knew he couldn't.
Overall kinda meh come to think of it. There were few big names or great acts. But then that's metal, so can't expect much. If they could get a good SoD show that would have been something.

I saw Megadeth last year and Dave sounded fucking great. Weeks later I watched the same show on bootleg YouTube and he sounded just okay.

I wonder if zoomies even understand the outside world exists, and the audio engineering is different. All these faggots who think listening to Ride the Lighting on a cell phone speaker need to be Holocausted.

Not saying Axl didn't suck, I'm just wondering if he sounded better live. Maybe you faggots would get less KYS (You)s if you had the common sense to understand that compressed audio fed through a cell phone mic and re-fed then re-compressed again to go on YouTube to playback on your shitass Chinese-kid-built cell phone speakers might not sound so great

Unlike Axl, Mustaine, and the others, Araya never had a good voice in the first place, and right from the start, Slayer ditched the makeup and leather pants and became the "we don't care" band. Can't fall off the pedestal if you never get on it to begin with.

I was there and this is roughly what I thought of it for what it's worth:
Mastodon - Great but few minor technical issues with sound because they were first
Rival Sons - never heard of these guys, kind of boring but good cover of Electric Funeral (my favourite Black Sabbath tracK)
Anthrax - Great but the only band to only have 2 songs which was unfortunate
Halestorm - Wasn't a fan
Lamb of God - Also not a fan generally
Supergroup 1 - Whatever, went for food
Alice in Chains - Really good but I am also a big AiC fan
Gojira - suprisingly bad for some reason, didn't expect that
Supergroup 2 - Stephen Tyler appearing was interesting but overall was kind of whatever
Pantera - I never liked Pantera and they were boring here too
Tool - Fucking amazing, need to see them live again
Slayer - Surprisingly a bit of a let down actually
GNR - Axel's voice wasn't as bad as I thought it would be but overall not a fan of GNR so, whatever
Metallica - I hate Metallica but they played live very well, have to give it to them
Ozzy - Don't care about his solo career but his singing was better than I thought
Black Sabbath - Rightly so the best performance of the day, incredible to see.

Also don't know why Jason Momoa of all people was allowed to host the show.

this

Sharon thinks in 20th century biz - biggest crowd wins. Your meme band with a cult following doesn't matter, even if they're so good they mog all the other bands.

Sex Pistols/PiL didn't show either. Anthrax was the opener, whining about the lineup shows a fundamental misunderstanding of what this concert was about.

Thought the lack of Birmingham bands was a bit lame, why no Quartz, especially given the Sabbath connection? Glenn Hughes as well since he's from the Midlands and a good friend of Iommi but I guess he committed the ultimate sin of being a post-Ozzy Sabbath member plus Sharon probably still hates him after their falling out in the early 80s

I figured it was Iron Maiden but considering how much Sharon despises Iron Maiden in general I'd be kind of surprised if she invited them there to start with.

No one knows or can ever know. Even if they released public financial information, you'd be retarded for trusting its accuracy. Half the faggots in here are so clueless they actually think charities exist.

Who cares anyway?

saw them in '99. Ozzy introducing band members and shirtless Bill stands up and received scattered applause and a collective gasp. Ozzy had to urge on the crowd to more applause. now it's a quarter century later

Jake E. Lee is a class act for turning up to Back to the Beginning all things considered. He took the high road. Not that I hold anything against Daisley though.

They were not supposed to be paid. It was a charity event.
She did not nothing wrong in this case this time.
But I have a conspiracy theory she still did mess with Black Sabbath only letting them play four songs (they had rehearsed two more after Paranoid).

>Rival Sons - never heard of these guys, kind of boring but good cover of Electric Funeral (my favourite Black Sabbath tracK)

they opened for Sabbath in 2016. maybe 3 people stood up for them during their set. (Everyone was on their feet for Sabbath)

Kerslake and Phil Soussan too. Sharon actually physically attacked Soussan at Randy Castillo's wake; very classy.

The Kerslake thing wherein she finally gave Kerslake his record certifications for Blizzard and Diary (but still no performance credits for Diary) while he was dying of cancer may be her coldest move ever.

You know what my new take on his first marriage ending is now. She was basically like
>Look. You take him. He is your headache now.
Sort of fits nicely with all the other goofy lol random arcs Ozzy had in his life.
