The Grateful Dead sucked without Pigpen. Phish had a good run but I t ended around the time of Lemonwheel. Unfortunately they still play shows. And you definitely should not research why Mike Gordon got his ass beat.

I got into Phish recently and have enjoyed some modern shows despite recognizing that the 90's are their untouchable peak, but when I'm at a show I can't help but feel that I'm witnessing military grade bread and circus and that the whole scene is a trap for alternative thinkers to keep them on the reservation and ensure that social psychedelic use occurs in a controlled environment with a prescribed culture that prevents anyone from getting any big ideas that might threaten the system.
