its decent in small doses. though I prefer first wave BM and blackened death over most "pure" black metal.

From what you said I've listened only to there's no beauty left here, great album. Also I really liked fadheit but maybe it's because I understood polish, text is cool, but never felt like screaming with them later

There's no such thing as a first wave much less a second one, the so called first wavers were not doing black metal and the fact they inspired the birth of genre doesn't include them in there, black metal is Immortal, Darkthrone, Dimmu Borgir etc. First wavers were either nwobhm or extreme metal. I'm not hating but it's important to catalog everything accurately so the information doesn't end up misinterpreted or misunderstood.

They certainly called themselves black metal in magazines and posters.

But more broadly I agree with you. In the early 80s, it was all just โ€œextremeโ€ metal.

Magazines called it everything. They called Bathory death metal, they called thrash bands like Metallica power metal, they called Slayer (and any band that sounded remotely like Venom) black metal, and they lumped anything satanic under the umbrella term โ€œevil metalโ€
