Now the algo is just way too fucked, once I even found "not like us" (a (c)rap song) in Attracted To You's radio (a neo-disco song).
Definitely there's a lot of botting happening too.

All one of those "literal who's" needs is a single song on an algorithmically generated playlist and millions of users who mindlessly listen to what the app serves up for them will be counted as a "monthly listener".

Yeah it depends on if you get featured on good playlists and large youtube channels. I'm a noname synthwave artist and I have several tracks with 1 million+ plays on Spotify.

"listener" means "heard at least 30 seconds of 1 song in the last month", it has no value except to boost artist numbers during promotional pushes (when songs are added to playlists), the only valuable metrics are followers and streams
