Their first 5-6 albums are consistently full of great songs. Queen II, Sheer Heart Attack, A Night at the Opera and A Day at the Races are some of the greatest albums of all time.

The problem with Queen is that they have become unfairly associated with sports events, and as a result has attained the image of being music for dimwitted sports fans with beer bellies, when in reality, they belong right next to ABBA as a 70's act that was ultimately an unbelievable tour de force in producing banger after banger. Even We Will Rock You, despite being tainted by sport stadiums around the world, is actually a pretty cool and iconic song, comparable to Come Together by Beatles. We all just take it for granted at this point.

I think Flash Gordon is a really good soundtrack and works extremely well in the campy context of the movie but theres no reason to listen to it separately.
Hitherwhencetoforthuponsuch it doesn’t really belong on a list of albums imo.

We will rock you and We are the champions are two of the greatest songs EVER objectively.

I looked over queen until recently because of how overblown they are especially after that movie, but they were fucking amazing musicians. Kind of like the Beatles of the 70s and 80s. They effortlessly nailed heavy, progressive, pop, and folk music. As well as songs like orge attack and get down make love that just sound like nothing else
