This has been /mu/core for years. I got into it from /mu/ and downloaded my copy in 2016.

I kinda wish there was such a thing as soft screamo.I often enjoy the build up before the bands start "rocking out" more than the rocking out itself and I just as often wish that build up was the entire song. I hope someone knows what I'm talking about when I type this

Try to find stuff at the intersection of post-rock and slowcore, where there's still some focus on complexity without building up to the same intensity as you hear in post-hardcore. This is a really good EP from earlier this year:

First and last tracks are particularly great and brooding.

A lot of slowcore is sad, but you can find more brooding or bitter stuff if you dig. Picastro's first two albums, Red Your Blues and Metal Cares, are both great for that. Some of the band Lowercase fits, particularly the Going Away Present. Something Is Like Nothing Was by Monopot is also pretty good. Grenadilla Splinters by Exhaust.

And I was about to recommend the band Deliluh's first few albums, but then I realised they're a Slint rip-off. Does Spiderland fit what you're looking for?

Are there any specific examples of what you're looking for? Even just part of a song.

Nobody knew about it until 2019 or so and then started to get gradually popular on the internet since 2023. The album came out over 20 years ago.

Listen to their second album. It has a couple of songs with that same structure:

It was posted about plenty before 2019, and showed up in share threads in 2015.
