It captures a different energy that studio albums dont always emit based on the emotions the performers put into it. Sometimes theres better solos.
Take your favorite song and then listen to the live version, sometimes its nice to change it up

Back in the day, live albums usually had more energy and grit than the studio albums.

Example.
Studio version

Live album version
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u0zJCpovwyY

I personally think the live version of this song blows the studio recording out of the water. It has more energy, faster pace, everyone is performing at the edge of their ability. The studio version, all though good, just feel too restrained.

See if this helps you understand why some people emjoy live versions

Live at Pompeii, at least Echoes, is hardly live. Even in their own movie you can see them doing overdub takes for the Pompeii film. They played live that day but it essentially functioned as a scratch track for them to be able to retake and edit later. There's video on youtube of David and Rick matching their studio vocal performance to what was taped at Pompeii, same for David's solos. That said, the Pompeii versions are better overall.

it has a different vibe and sounds cool. And sometimes itโ€™s like completely different from the albums.

They show you how good your "favorite" band actually is. 99% of your (and my) favorites are utter trash. Enjoy.

It's for small children who's parents won't let them go to the actual concert.

Sometimes, the live performance is better than the album recording.

This. I'm not into Deep Purple but I could say the same about Roxy Music. Listen to Viva (their first live album, arguably at their peak) and then listen to the songs on their respective albums and they're good but just lacking that special energy.

For rock music, I like live albums because bands are obsessed with overdubbing shit for absolutely no reason. So albums like Yessongs are the main way to actually hear them perform as the ensemble they advertise themselves to be in the first place. Jazz is obvious, a different recording will be a totally different rendition be it studio or live

With most classical music, live recordings suck unless the performer didn't do a studio version. You will just hear the same piece but with a bunch of people coughing over it constantly. It's less bad for orchestral music, but chamber and solo instrument music is just miserable to hear live whenever I do decide to listen to a recording of a piece of music. But this is mainly for recordings. Actual live performances are pretty cool to hear still in person and that I definitely do not hate

sometimes if the band has evolved after the studio versions were put down you get different versions of the songs interpreted through their era at the time of the show
also as mentioned the live show energy
