End of Summer? More like End Of Career.

I watched the self-produced documentary he did on the recording of Innerspeaker and goddamn did this shit absolutely slap on a historical level. Dude was setting up drums and mixing consoles in a shed, probably high on psychedelics or something. The mood was beautiful, they had a beautiful ocean view, at one point there's a storm and he's blasting trippy stoner rock full volume...
And then you compare this vibe with the overproduced lyophilised mess that was Currents, and what came after.

I think at this point he should stop writing music because he said all he had to say. He should focus on the business side of things and produce new artists, be a recording engineer. I can't deny that's he's an absolutely genius sound engineer, he just has lost the momentum to write new groundbreaking things like he did on his first two albums.

Was Innerspeaker really groundbreaking? It sounds like a modern version of the Nuggets compilation by an amateur songwriter. He really upped his game for Lonerism, though. He did that, the Melody's Echo Chamber debut, and Pond's Beard Wives Denim album all around the same time. That was definitely his peak in creativity. Currents made him a household name and brought commercial success.The Slow Rush was a real step backwards, even from Currents. And this new track is weaker than anything on that, so I'm having serious doubts.

I agree, though, he should spent more time producing, and I think he and George Clanton should collaborate.
