This is 2025 /mu/ no one even knows who you're talking about.
But neither of them hurt their legacy. I wouldn't be surprised if Merzbow starts making actual AI noise. Pumping out releases every week with minimal effort is part of his industrial concept or whatever. People who are interested will still listen to the 90s harsh noise and 80s tape music albums.
Yamat(su)ka Eye is ballin. Dude is a legend and he already moved from straight noise to more commercial music over years and years who gives a shit if the guy likes to DJ.
