That's in fact a revival of a 1920s song. The original was a slow plodding ballad and this one at least picks up the tempo.

Koral was next to Cokelumbia the most infamous schlock label of the 50s.

>The slow, melliferous crooning style was going out of fashion in the early '50s as trends shifted to faster, louder singing, whether it was on the male side Johnnie Ray, Tony Bennett, Eddie Fisher, Don Cornell, Guy Mitchell, and the Four Aces, or on the female side Rosemary Clooney, Teresa Brewer, Kay Starr, the McGuire Sisters and Georgia Gibbs. For those who still preferred mellower singing, there was Patti Page and Jo Stafford. If rock-and-roll had not yet arrived, the new crop of pop singers was leading the way towards more aggressive performances.

That's actually 58 and not early 50s but...meh. Also Teresa Brewer covered this song. Of course she would, why wouldn't she?
