Never seen any chinese music thread. Anything from the 70s-90s there that is comfy? Or is it just pop idols?

Yeah to my knowledge it was mostly mainstream pop in the 70's / 90's (the best being from Hong Kong and in Cantonese imho). In mainland China The first rock star was Cui Jian in the 80's and punk became quite big in the 2000's and from there some indie/post-rock whatever started to emerge. Plenty of cool punk bands in Wuhan for instance, gravitating around the Vox bar.
Also I was drunk at a party with Faye Wong once and shamelessly flirted with her as I had no idea who she was.
Good times.

All I remember is that she's really cool and that she was pissed at her husband (the second one I think) because he's apparently some borderline conman and was using her fame to promote an artsy fartsy festival or whatever.
For me it was just some random party with free drinks where I was invited as the local friendly westerner musician.

I wonder if they have small experimental scenes we don't know about, like there's the Chinese Merzbow or whatever

China is so huge that you can find almost everything there but this is pushing it and going to be very very underground.
Bet I can do is this:

All chinese are good little hivemind bug people who function completely in service of the collective. There is no chinese "art" that expresses the will of the individual so there is no experimental music

Not all of them. The individuals suffer...and suffering leads to great art. But it's few and far between.
The whole idea of "China" is fake and gay too. There's a whole bunch of regional cultures, but they're slowly being eradicated by CCP bug people. Including well outside China. They're now brainwashing Tibetan and Mongolian kids to be "Chinese" and stop using their languages.

>The whole idea of "China" is fake and gay
The whole idea of "China" is millenia old though and so is its culture.
>regional cultures
These are mostly kept alive for tourists today but China is and always has been a huge melting pot with everything thrown in together.
>brainwashing
It's also known as 'education' and learning Chinese is just the way to go if you want to succeed in China somehow.
All Chinese kids also learn English but I don't see anyone calling it 'brainwashing'.
