As someone with no musical knowledge other than “thing sounds good me like thing” how do I tell if a drummer is good or bad?

Peart, while extremely skilled, overplayed pretty much everything. Good drummers know when NOT to play too much.

dunno. Peter Criss is supposedly a shit drummer but his solo on Alive is one of my favorites - I actually prefer it over All The Worlds A Stage drum solo
