Classical musicians tended not to compile their works into albums or compilations, that was more often the publishers, when they did they usually gave them names.

Rock has vocals, the type of music you're referring to is instrumental. Mozart also wrote vocal pieces and they're called "The Marriage Of Figaro" or "The Magic Flute".

Instrumental music is called that because there are no vocals to bring home what the programmatic context of the piece of music is, and if you want to make programmatic instrumental music you get symphonic poems: A really lame genre where a giant paragraph needs to be spoken as a foreword before the piece begins in a concert

Yeah, imagine if they concentrated on the music first and stupid, pointless visuals and presentation second.

I'd thought of the same thing myself. I didn't think it would sound that pretentious. Just a good enough reason to not have to apply non-musical themes to the thing.
Like even instrumental artists have to try to put something clever or profound-sounding in the title. Fuck that.

Their best works have nicknames.
It would be nice if also in popular music only absolutely best songs had real names.

>highly formulaic
Presentism fallacy. He invented those formulas by constantly experimenting. But you'd need to actually listen to his music and know music theory and history to understand this.
>sounds identical
He synthesized every major classical-era style into a single, coherent, universal language. The fact that you think it all "sounds identical" (let's pretend you've actually listened to any of it) just proves you can't hear the difference.
Mozart's music is the ultimate pleb filter. Even when it "sounds simple", it's incredibly well-crafted and subtle, effortlessly filtering out the dilettante idiots.
>>127288845
No, he wasn't. He was an opera composer first. He said so himself and the fact that his best works are operas proves it.

wew you triggered all the scat muncher canonistas with this one. you're correct, of course, there's no interpretation of mozart - a MIDI, where all repetitions of said motifs are just copied and pasted with no variation in velocity, would actually be better than a real life pianist since the inevitable variations in a real performance will only make the excruciating repetition even more obvious.
