Is there an album like Zen Arcade without the filler?

I don't think these albums sound alike at all. Double Nickels sure does mog anything Husker Du did, thoughever

The only "Filler" on Zen Arcade is the very last song, which you have the option of skipping, but it's pretty cool if you've been ripping bongers the whole time you've been listening to the whole album.

If you're referring to Hare Krishna, not, it's not "Filler" and it isn't random chanting, either.
The song does have actual lyrics, and if you actually own a copy of Zen Arcade, you already know that.

i guess this sounds 'progressive' and 'influential' if you've never heard of the wipers

I think the filler he is referring to is the fact that like half the album is boring as fuck. You can basically turn the whole thing off after the 4th track, because the album takes a nosedive from there.

There's no filler on Zen Arcade it's a concept album. It's "prog post-hardcore" or some shit.

4th track is pushing it. On the 3rd and 4th side of the album, there are some bloaters. Standing by the sea, masochism world, and indecision time are kind of meh. The last track can get a bit boring

I know it is splitting hairs but NDR has less of a post hardcore and hardcore edge. The album is great, but Husker Du was softening their sound and it starts shifting into their later punk rock inspired alt rock sound on this album.

Ok, I guess that's a good point. Zen Arcade is a much more "in the red" album.
They're nowhere near as good as Hüsker Dü, but Fucked Up did the whole "hardcore band stretches out" thing more recently. They pretty quickly turned into more of an indie rock band with a hardcore singer, but their first album, Hidden World, might be up your alley.

Husker Du created Emocore. This and Metal Circus. Rites of Spring and the Hated took it from them

Never heard of them. At 72 minutes, the album already seems interesting. OP is looking for that hardcore sound that isn't just minute long songs of fast, angry, loud and without the lower points that seem bloated on the album.
NDR can only touch the surface of ZA. It starts to do its own thing and has less of a hardcore edge. It keeps the Husker Du guitar tone but has more moments of "Somewhere" and "Chartered Trips" than "Beyond the Threshold", I will Never Forget You" and "Pride".
If ZA is them moving past the sound they had on Everything Falls Apart, then NDR is them moving past the sound they had on ZA. Completely different songwriting, completely different output, completely different material

Fucked Up were pretty hyped for a few years, but their moment's passed. I saw them live a few times, and they were fun, but their albums are admittedly overlong and meandering. I do really like "Year of the Pig", though. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-UZSJdQ27KY
