If a venue couldn't manage to separate the m&ms correctly, the band would assume that the much more complicated and dangerous stuff, like pyrotechnics, weren't assembled correctly, either. The media simply took the candy part and ran with it, to make van Halen seem like a bunch of dickheads for trying to make sure their concerts were safe, a lesson Great White could have learned.
