Was James Yancey a good musician?

I have a very hard time believing someone can receive so much acclaim for simply pushing buttons on a sampler and adding an off-kilter drum pattern.

He wasn’t a visionary. He couldn’t drum on beat, possibly due to undiagnosed autism, yet (((academic elites))) have convinced everyone he was a genius.

The art of sampling is a hard-filter for midwits. Yeah, he's great and can play circles round the talentless hacks on this board, but the nuances of the stuff he actually put out are lost on here. 4chan is completely and utterly dominated by the midwit horde in the current year, and midwits are necessarily filtered by his entire act like I said.

Funny enough, his mother just made a video for Save The Music where she talked about how much he loved playing classical music in school.

>was he good?
yes
>...acclaim for simply...
you don't understand how he made the music that he did and likely will never make anything as good, including the post you made
