Playlists (on Spotify/Youtube, etc) are way better than albums.

Albums are just a way to sneak in shittier songs and sell them as a 40-minute 'experience', so you get guilt-tripped about pressing the skip button on the boring songs.

I assume in the first half of the 20th century, albums originally came from a collection of singles. Then when rock'n'roll really hit its stride in the second half of the 20th century, albums were put out as a single release.
Originally like photo albums, a collection not necessarily taken all at the same time.

playlists are for people who can only listen to catchy 3 minute pop songs as background noise while they watch video content, i.e. plebeians

You have no idea how hard it is to create a catchy song, do you?
