I mined a similar path in the late 90s/early 2000s. Into punk rock but had politics which were widely out of step (lol) with the scene. Had a band too, but we sucked. I was the guitarist and lyric writer and we sounded like Flipper and Big Black (we used a drum machine). Fast forward to 2012 and I began to read political philosophy (i was conservative but under-read) and started reading works by Hobbes, Kant, Burke, etc. Now I'm in university looking to become a historian and philosopher in my own right.
