When Odd Future came out, it really felt sort of like the Millennial Sex Pistols moment just because they incorporated the scatological humor my friends and I had in high school. It seemed impossible to offend people anymore, since things like grindcore, industrial, and death metal had started before I was even born. Odd Future were the first band people really freaked out about, and that was cool.

That said, I think hip hop is in a really good place now because people like Tyler and Danny Brown have reached celebrity status, and desu Call Me If You Get Lost, Flower Boy, and maybe Chromakopia are the best albums Tyler ever did.
