I used to think this band sucked, but ever since Rick Beato broke it down on YouTube I have come to realize Vessel is a genius. What a band!

It's alright desu. Not for me, and doesn't real fit MY definition of metalcore, but whatever. I don't care that much about genre these days -- if a band calling themselves metalcore wants to make an album like this, and if they do it REALLY well? Good.

But for me, it didn't hit desu. When I think of metalcore I want to hear music that sounds like this:

I don't think anyone's calling it metalcore. Regardless, I agree in part with the sentiment you express regarding genre tags not really mattering, because I've grown to simply not care about "genre wars" and whether a band wants to call themselves metal or not.
