David Bowie: Hours. . . [Virgin, 1999] *dud*
I bought this the day it was released as a teenager. As a Bowie album it's skippable entirely but you have to understand 1999 music was like Britney Spears, NSYNC, Matchbox 20 etc.. the alternative grunge thing was effectively over. I was happy with this new. It's a good thing I was into him at this time because I got to see him live a few years later and it was the last tour ever.

that's kind of the problem. it sounds very very much like 1999 which is to say it sounds like PS1 music.

I think this one did well enough sales-wise despite nasty reviews.

damn that sucks and says something bad about music by that point since you needed old guys to still make a decent rock album

If you took Tonight The Stars Revolt and replaced the vocals with Bowie's, you would have Hours.

I think the title was a joke about Father Time as he'd recently turned 50.

I don't think he made a bad album in the 90s-early 00s and most of them do something interesting, only Reality seems like a filler album.

This had to be the first DB album in damn near 20 years where he actually focused on songs instead of aesthetics.
