e-bike will get stolen.
e-scooter is unstable at high speeds.

Rest is same. Same controller, same power levels (or including more in case of e-scooter). Same batteries.

Just get a normal bike. You wont cycle or scoot that far anyway and we both know it.

depends what speed you wanna be ejected at
i think ebikes are gay but if you are fat or whatever then go for it

>How much is high speed?
Above 25 km/h for 8" wheel scooters. Maybe 10" is a bit higher.
>Are scooters stable at 55kmh?
Doubt. If you want to go 55 km/h, you should get a proper moped/motorcycle. They make electric variants. With removable battery so you can steal electricity. They are designed to go fast, and have adequate brakes and everything.

If you hate maintenance of fragile derailleur or too complex IGH, but have to deal with uphills, 250w rear motor is a good alternative as transmission, because with the help of PAS, 2.5-3 gear ratio on single speed will feel like 1-1.5, which will allow to ride any city uphills with 70-90 cadence without derailleur/IGH bloat. the main thing is to install brass gears instead of nylon ones, they last much longer and just lubricate them every couple of thousand kilometers

You can also weld a freewheel that prevents the motor from spinning when it is turned off, and get the ability to recuperate, which will increase the lifespan brakepads/brakediscs/rims or eliminate it altogether if you fixed gear
But this will slightly worsen the dynamics and rolling when riding only on pedals with the motor turned off. It is also necessary to install dropout amplifiers, there are cases when even 250 watts tore out the dropout during recuperation, not to mention 500 and especially 1000, especially direct drive.

I can't recommend anything.
I'm stuck with 2012-2015 scooters.
>Chinese noname, ODM for Speedway 3 Mini
Shit battery construction, had to rebuild and in the process I have converted it from 36V to 24V because I broke the cell. Didn't have balancing.
Folding mechanism is retarded.
>Ninebot ES2
Shit battery construction. BMS is fine electrically, but mechanically its a mess. Cells themselves are fastened very well, but connector that goes from cells to BMS is just the worst.
I have the rental variant, so it has no folding and only other mechanical issue is rear fork out of aluminium that is retarded and gets bent as you use it.
ES2 is pain in the ass to service too.
I believe M365 (Xiaomi) and Ninebot Max are much better design.
>E-TWOW clone.
Meh mechanically, could have been better. Battery was horrific, nearly caught on fire, good thing i didn't fix it usual way (hammer and keep hammering until it works lol), because nickel strip nearly shorted the cell group.

And that shit is pretty much true for all chink scooters I believe. They would literally save 2 yuan on the battery and make it unusable and unreliable despite using acceptable quality cells. (I mean chink cells aren't really good, but you know, Apple uses them in their devices and it works fine. Samsung or LG would have been better, but even they have shit cells like LG M26 that are barely any better than chink cells)
So my suggestion if you get something really chinsy, (i.e. not Ninebot or Niu), buy a big shrink wrap, BMS, fuseholder, fuses and disassemble the battery to check wtf is going in there. Takes $25 but will potentially save your house from burning down, frustration from shit ""degrading"" in less than 3-4 charge cycles (i.e. no balancing) or killing cells.

Other thing. Solid tyres might sound appealing, but they honestly suck. 8" solid tire has same rolling resistance as 10" tubeless, but 10" is much smoother and pneumatic means even smoother. More stable too.

But I imagine e-bikes batteries are exact same shit.

If you're willing to spend ebike money on a scooter there are options to address this issue.
For example picrel
The problem ofc is high power scooters are a legal grey area because they have the speed and acceleration of a lightweight motorcycle yet you drive them without license and insurance.

I don't see why bike police/park rangers don't wisen' up and get them. That and pursuit drones with vr/ar headsets
Who needs expensive cop cars and helicopters? when you have radios All terrain bikes, and solar powered drones 70,000 feet over a city way out of controlled airspace.

Bicycle Formfactor is just flat-out better, the larger wheel diameter and the angled design of the front wheel make the handling easier, with that said do your research as many e-bikes are limited to a really low speed on pedal assist.
You can theoretically do 80+km/h on a really high-range scooter with chunky wheels like a nami burn-e, but it's never going to be *as* stable as a bike, the guys I ride with only go 70-85 on specific dedicated bikeways with really smooth roads and little to no bike traffic, none of them are game enough to drive among cars at any speed so they don't go to top speeds very often.

Get an EUC for the best of both worlds, massive tyre size, way better gyro than scooters, way better maneuverability than both, comfortable both sitting and standing making long rides easy af, I can't recommend these enough, they will make bikes and scooters obsolete.

I bike 15-20 mi regularly on an ebike.
What would you recommend for a good 2-3 thousand dollar e-bike with a full suspension that can handle hills and trails or city biking, especially one that can handle a bigger rider?

I know its unlikely but its best to have these devices outside, ideally on tile or concrete incase it catches on fire, just incase (also fire alarm nearby). The Ebike is has a larger wheel so it absorbes bumps better. You can also add storage onto it if you need to transport things. 2nd hand market the sell might also be bigger, since it has more uses.

Happened to my dumbass on 2nd day with e scooter. Was on a bike trail with some rough patches. Then struck a pothole and flipped over. Was going around 24-28km.

Fucked up my palms like Jesus Christ for month and half. Legs had brutal scapes. Couldn't ride for 2 months, afterwards I always wore gloves to brace my dumbass if something like that happened again.

I think e-scooters are ideal if you rely on public transport a lot since getting an e-bike in a bus or train at peak hours is a pain in the ass, even folding ones. It's also great to skip slow bus routes that stop every few hundred meters, are not well served or if your destination is a couple of miles away from the most convenient bus/train stop going uphill both way with a headwind. I'm looking into getting one since I could probably shave off 1 hour from my daily commute. And they're shockingly cheap too.

What about something like this?

Has a seat.
Easier to lift/move/carry? Or at least easier to put away/hide.
