What would be the feasibility (both from a business and legal standpoint) of a cruise line building ships made to outwardly resemble classic ocean liners but with fully modernized interiors? Say Cunard decided they wanted their next cruise ship to mocked up with four funnels and a profile resembling the Lusitania-class or Aquitania, could they get away with it?

No, Titanic II doesnโ€™t count, be serious.

Pic related, the MS Dixie II based out of Lake Tahoe, a ship with the outward appearance of a 19th Century Mississippi River paddle steamer, but was built in 1996 and uses a modern motor engine.

Most cruise ship passengers want suites with private balconies and large windows

>cruise ships
Weirdest concept of all time desu.
Bunch of boomers paying thousands of dollars to swim around in a large building crammed with people.
Just get a nice hotel at the beach at that point.
I honestly think they should ban cruise ships alltogether. Its completely useless today and just wastes tons of resources for no reason at all.

>Boomers
It's mostly younger people that like cruises. They're appealing because everything is included and they are much cheaper than getting a hotel at a beach. Many 5 day cruises can be had for two people for $1,000 or less. This includes all of the meals and, for a bit more, you can get unlimited alcoholic beverages.

Sure, cruises will try to up sell a lot of things to get more money, but the base price includes a lot of amenities and entertainment for a lot cheaper than you'd otherwise be able to get. Cruises aren't for everyone, and they're not for me, but to have no understanding of their appeal and boast of it is the mark of a moron.

We must be living on different planets, he only person I know under 70 who likes cruises is a trad 30s-ish 1st gen immigrant coworker who lives with 4 generations under one roof who is in a basically (not officially) arranged marriage, aka not an average person, and everyone kind of thinks it's strange but doesn't give her any grief because she's already out of step with the tastes and preferences of someone her age in this area. Actually come to think of it no, I know another person who is into cruises who is in his 40s who also is 1st gen and lives in a multi-generational household.

I have an aunt in her 80s with no kids who takes the youngest cousins (not her direct offspring) on cruises but they've consistently lost interest as they got into their teen years and developed their own tastes and preferences.

Are you a 1st generation immigrant in a large, multi-generational household? Nta btw I've got no dog in this fight, it's not my cup of tea but I won't judge you for being into that. But it's culturally out of step with the reality I'm familiar with. Cruises are totally an old people thing around here. If you're into them and you're not arthritic, you're not the average person.

No, I'm not, but in my 20s I knew a lot of people from different background(although none of them immigrants of any sort) that enjoyed cruising. They were also all in the 20s.

>boomers died off en masse in 2020
>zoomzooms now dream of going on cruises, being surrounded by burning rivers, and sending in the military every time uppity minorities try to have rights
Science can't explain this but I'm thinking reincarnation might actually be a real phenomenon
