I've noticed lots of bus drivers get really frustrated at bad drivers and passengers being time inefficient. Since they all basically drive in big circles with no 'destination' and work hours are strictly limited in my country it seems a bit odd.

Yes, their agencies and leadership are petty.

They want their drivers to be on time even though majority of times that is an unrealistic expectation for a transit mode that has neither ROW or grade seperation

Oh and the amount of dumb grannies and grandpas that are still trying to use cash on the fare boxes is horrible. Oh and disabed people while I understand their blight slow down the bus as well.

IMO STS services should be mandatory for a people who require wheelchairs. That way regular bus service is not interrupted

>bus drivers get really frustrated ..at time innefficient passengers
Majority of the transit drivers in my community are pretty cool. I've seen them stop before stops to pick up the old lady trying to run to the bus stop, or people who are a bit tardy getting to their stops. It happens. But they do have some pet peeves.

Like, how hard is it for people to show up 5 minutes before the bus AND have your fare ready? Apparently for many it's near impossible. The people still paying cash are faster than the dumb fucks using the Umo app on their cell phones.

Nothing like standing in line waiting for the cell phone zombie up front start swiping their phone screen trying to get a QR code. Then the next person, who you'd think would use the delay to get his/her phone ready, nope! Now they're swiping their lock screen... looking at their phone like they're seeing such a device for the first time in their life. The next person is pretty much doing the same. <sigh> And on it goes. It seems to be mostly high school & university students that exhibit this collective retardation. It's quite boggling to observe. Some days are better though.

Oh and don't forget the teenagers carrying their new iPhones, drinking a $5 iced capp, carrying shopping bags with video games or something, whining to the driver that they're short on the $2.50 bus fare..
>No. Start walking kid.
>But but it's raining out and even though it's winter I don't have a warm jacket or hat! And I live downtown.
<facepalm>

Yeah, riding transit can sometimes be a daily reminder at why we're pretty much cattle. kek!

I feel like I am one of the few who always has their fare ready when the driver pulls up

The only time I was required to be on time at my company was at the beginning of my shift, after that you were only allowed to be on time or late leaving a time point. Late was preferable, because complaints about a late bus were ignored but complaints about an early bus would be brought to the operator and could result in discipline

Move to my city. 85F out the other day and all the bus riders had on their puffy coats and wool caps.

Makes sense. If the bus is early, people will miss it and that's like the bus not arriving at all.

HR depts and lawyers ruined america. it's extremely difficult to fire anyone, and opens up the employer to costly and risky legal retaliation. so much so that most places see it better to keep the underperforming employee rather than risk firing them.

this is doubly true for government jobs, where there's no real incentive for anyone to fix the problems.

I'm a bus driver. I really like my transit company because they don't push the schedule.
However, many bus drivers still get frustrated about being late because:
>passengers bitch and moan about it
>it cuts into your layover time to use the bathroom
>it cuts into your layover time to take a smoke break
>the driver doesn't give a shit about customer service and just wants to get his route done asap and go home

Wouldn't this constitute a pretty bad incentive? Especially considering that most factors affecting punctuality are probably not under the bus drivers influence? I mean what is the driver supposed to do once any unforeseen event causes them to be late, engage in risky behaviour and break the law?
Then again it would explain bus driver behaviour.

I heard a trainer talking to a new guy in the bus station yesterday (GB). He was telling him to relax, never to rush if he was late. Always relax. It doesn't matter, let it go. He repeated this over and over, and emphasised that being on time is totally fucking impossible kek.

>trying to get to work
>bus halfway there, should arrive on time, early even, good morning
>suddenly wheelchair user appears
>get fired for being 20 minutes late

I feel bad for gimps but you can't let 1% of the population kneecap service for everyone else. Gimps should take their own special gimpvans, which is already a service every city provides. But no. Instead these jobless cretins want to inconvenience every functioning member of society so they can pretend to have a social life, or whatever reason they feel they should be entitled to halt bus service to cater to them instead of getting in their designated cripple carriage. And it's always some jobless 80 year old boomer, too.
