batteries explode if the wiring in there is bad and the cells charge over their designed voltage.

Maybe american summer camp so americans can build their own battery so they can under stand how simple. I think that would make americans fall out of their evil wasteful stupor.

On an ebike youre easily allowed to see the failure of ameircan infrastructure. It's a tool to scout out american hostility. The gas fogs the brain. Your ebike will go where the busses dont go and where your normal bicycle will not reach.

Whats wrong with a normal bike? I regularly smoke boomers and middle aged dads/moms on ebikes with ease.
They are capped at 25km/h where i live and the added weight is only a handicap above 25km/h. I easily do 35km/h on the flats and can climb at 20km/h.
There is no advantage except more drivetrain wear, expensive batteries and added weight.

your bicycle is a prosthetic. The logic to herding bodies in to gas chambers says, leave your wheel chair out side where the thieves will rust it.

The bike racks not empty by accident. A 5000 pound gas chamber is too heavy to steal.

ebike? YES.

:the gas comes out the back side of the gas chamber. We get a lot more of the gas when the gas chamber is moving up hill. The gas looks like air but it's not. The gas chamber moves the air away. Carbon monoxide binds to the hemoglobin 200 times faster than air. We can't filter the carbon monoxide from the blood in our veins with a gas mask. We would need a gas mask with oxygen tanks.

The logic to herding bodies in to gas chambers says,

"Leave your wheel chair out side where it will be stolen"
"Where it will rust"
"Where the elements will grind it to dust"

[we used to use that logic in the concentration camps for prosthetics]

The empty bike racks become a monument to the success of their eugenics.

That error code 10 on my bicycle would mean I would want to check the continuity in those 5 wires that go from the speed controller to the hub motor.

When I got my conversion kit, one or some of the 5 wires was rubbing up against the in side of the hub motor housing and it was causing a short.

What does your speed controller look like? I'm really bad with the names of connectors.

I spliced the wiring harness in to the new speed controller. You can get a kit of these connectors [but I cant remember the name of them right now]

and terminate them to the controller end of the wiring harness. That way we can swap it out easy if it breaks later.

We can also splice the wiring harness straight in to the speed controller but that takes a lot longer to fix if the speed controller has issues later.

I don't know what that broken looking blue connector is that loops back like that?

Here's why I don't want to buy an e-bike: I see bicycles from the 1980s still being ridden around on a pretty regular basis. Saw an older gentleman pedaling around HIS old man's old bicycle the other day. Some British company I think, I forget the make.

I just don't have any confidence that ANY e-bike currently on the road will be around in even 10 years. They all use proprietary batteries, they're always updating models, they're always changing the battery that comes with the models... Fast forward 30 years. A 16 year old finds his old man's e-bike in the garage. It looks brand new! But the battery won't charge. Will he be able to find a new battery and get his old man's bike back on the road? I bet NOT.

I would like things to get standardized. The same way so much stuff about bicycles have become standardized. I would like to know with certainty that if I buy an e-bike I can keep it running until the frame itself dies because replacement batteries, replacement motors, etc, will still be available in 20 years.

This is the only thing stopping me from buying an ebike. All parts are custom or proprietary. There really isn't a need for this since we're talking about simple components here. I want to be able to ride to a friends house, then swap out my battery with a spare he has and go home. It should really be that simple.

Yes. It should be as standardized as AA/AAA/D/C/9V batteries. It's fine if there are different batteries, so long as it's a small list of standardized sizes and configurations that will still be around in 10 years. Right now everything is completely proprietary which is over the rainbow gay. With everything being proprietary it turns a Forever Bike into a Throwaway Bike.

It will only happen when all the ebikes that are shilled now are sent to landfills too early. Then consumers will only buy something with standard parts. Rental companies might make advancements here faster than consumers though. Unless they find a way to make ebikes and escooters extremely cheap or near indestructible, they'll need to manufacture bikes that are very easy to repair.

orange might be cruise control. Not sure what the cut green is.

check the manual for the speed controller and figure out what handle bar "instruments" to hook up to what color wire.

The LCD screen obscured this process for me too much and I did not like it :( Much happier working with the simple volt meter / amp meter and hard switches.

2 wires for power on
3 wires for speed selector switch
3 wires for throttle lever
2 wires for cruise control
2 wires for break cutoff switch

I dont think I forgot any thing other than your very useful blue head light wire.

And no, there is zero chance that you got lucky and found the only decent e-bike that costs 4x less than all the others.

I would honestly be surprised if you could ride this thing for 100 miles total before it breaks, you take it to a shop, and they tell you that it can't be fixed, cause fixing it would involve replacing all parts with parts that actually work.

Ebike doesnt work for hills without significant investment. At that point a smaller scooter or a used car would work just fine. There's no reason why a usable ebikes should cost more than a a car. Hell, I've even considered buying cheap Leafs that go for ~$2K instead cause they have 20-30 miles in the car and can drive over decent terrain.

Cause the "coolest models" from your perspective use non-standard parts to look "cool".
Which means the production is more expensive due to economy of scale, so they operate at a loss to match a price customers are willing to pay, relying on meme investor money to stay in business while they hope to become the Apple of bicycles.
When that doesn't happen, investors pull out and the company folds.
Major automakers have repeatedly tried and failed to enter the bicycle market, cause they consistently underestimate the know-how required to build a good bike.
The only exception is Peugeot, which used to make bikes that were just as inexpensive and decent as their cars.

It must be really great for riding in the city, then!
>absolutely no way to mount fenders

This is a perfect example of a bike designed by a car company. It serves no purpose, on purpose.
If it was any good, it might take away a car sale.
It only exists to look "better than other bikes" to people who never ride bikes. It sends the message "look, bikes are stupid, we as a car manufacturer can make a better-looking bike than the bike manufacturers".
I bet it's a one-off, too. Or maybe they made 100 units, at a million โ‚ฌ loss, to give them away to customers buying a limited edition supercar.
