You are given a budget $10 million. You MUST complete a round the world trip. The choice of aircraft, route, and modifications are up to you, but you must start and finish at the same point, crossing the antipode of your starting point at some point in your journey.

Any money you do not spend, you get to keep. How little are you spending?

Oh, and obviously, you have to fly it yourself.
And no renting an aircraft - you have to buy it.

And if you try to circumvent the spirit of the challenge you are gay and retarded

but I can't fly planes. Can I just buy first class tickets on an airline, live it up in Thailand for a few months, then ride the rest of the way round in first class on a jumbo jet?

I don't understand, you mean I have to do it in an airplane, the same airplane, and it has to be a plane that I've purchased or leased for the occasion?

I'm just a cyclopath schizo fred, I don't claim to be at all an aviation expert, but I think I'd do it in a PC-12, they look real fuckin neato and I feel like they've got enough of everything where weather, large bodies of water, oceans etc would be less terrifying than in a little piston plane. And I think they cost a couple a million but quite a bit less than $10 yes?

I would absolutely not do it in any kind of helicopter, FUUUUUCK that shit.

>crossing the antipode of your starting point at some point in your journey
In that case I pretty much have to start in Hawaii, since the rest of North America is opposite nothing but airportless rocks in the Southern Indian Ocean. Also helps that my longest overwater leg will be the first, so I can prep for it the best. Most economical is probably just going to be a 172 with the back seats being long range ferry tanks
>Hawaii to California
>Cross the US to Florida
>Cross the Caribbean to South America
>Brazil to Africa or St. Helena
>Reach Botswana (antipode)
>Up the East Coast of Africa
>Along the Southern cost of Asia
>Island hop back to Hawaii
Obviously will be a pain in the ass and you can bet your dick I'll have my plane loaded with enough survival gear and signaling equipment to maximize my odds of making it if I go down in the ocean
>guesstimate milage: 23,000nm or so
>estimate flight time @100kts: 200 hours
>estimate wet cost @$75hr: $15,000
Realistically I'm doubling that cost to account misc flight costs. Between everything else I'm betting keeping the cost under a million would be pretty easy

Oh wait I didn't see the part about keeping the money after and there's no stipulation that I have to buy the plane.

PC-12 charter is $5k an hour but let's make it $10k just to not underestimate the cost. Let's make it 100 hours to zip around the globe in just the right kind of pattern to meet the rules without getting shot down or detained. So that's a million bucks even. Let's add another $100k on unexpected expenses. So $1,100,000. I get to take home the other $8.9 million and buy a modest house in Marin County, a couple of nice bicycles, and American health insurance for a year or two.

Why would I buy a plane when I could do it in a boat? The antipode of my starting point is in the ocean.

Spend 50 bucks on a bicycle from classifieds, 100 bucks on tires, tubes and spares, then go and live of little every month. Consumerism is degenerate and all consumption, regardless of what marketing wants to tell you, is harmful to the environment and by extension to your kin.
