the motor is the only thing that makes riding a bolt-upright posture tolerable. your body can't lay down any power, not for the sake of speed, but just for efficiency and distance. there's a reason it's called a beach cruiser. anything other than slow leisure pace for short distances is wasted effort on that thing.

Literally just stand up, it's not that hard. The biggest limiting factor for speed isn't your seating position so much as it's the fact most Cruisers have a single fixed gear which is generally made for all-around pedal efficiency on multiple types of terrain and grades. It's one reason a lot of utility bikes in third world countries are single gear (the other being less required maintainance)

>buy <$20 1950s cruiser off marketplace
>get out the wire wheel, sandpaper and grease
>remove all internal rust and repack all the bearings, service the headset, service and true the wheels and coaster hub, etc
>throw some BMX bars and a decent saddle on it that you harvested from some discarded piece of shit that you found in the trash or in a ditch
>leave the the entire exterior of the bike rusty and filthy
>ride it until the wheels fall off

This has been my modus operandi for years when it comes to commuters and knock around bikes. I like old European 3-speeds like Raleighs and Crescents, and 80s American, Italian and Japanese road bikes, and 90s MTBs, too, and have pristine and fully restored examples of all of those in my workshop/shed, but I'm always just reaching for my $10 piece of shit I leave leaned against the wall of my house open to the elements year round. Nobody wants to steal them, they're practically bombproof, and you can just jump off it and ghostride it into the side of a 7-11 with no cares in the world, go in for a slurpee and a microwave burrito, and when you come out it'll just be laying there ready to take you home. It's like being 12 years old all over again.

People honestly sleep on Cruisers when it comes to daily commuter bikes. Their drive train is simple and low-maintainance, the frames are usually thicker and more robust, and they're relatively stable and easy to handle, but most of all is because they're cheap, like dirt cheap, like even Walmart has India-special cruisers brand new for less than $100 you can just have around as a beater

The seating position is the appeal of Cruisers to me because I don't want to look like some tryhard when riding downtown. I get to sit in a normal seating position, one hand on the handlebar, coffee in my other hand, and just not give a fuck

There are ones that have a coaster brake. If you kick back twice until just before the braking point it shifts, if you kick back further it starts to brake. The duomatic would of course shift up or down one gear automatically seemingly based on rotation speed, with the coaster brake working as usual.

That's neat, I've always wondered how to operate the kickback hub with coaster brake.

Thinking about it you might even experience more drag now and its only the fact that, especially at low speeds, were talking miniscule differences, that allows you to delude yourself into believing it was even less.
After all the fender does not increase frontal area but at the same time shield bits that are moving in the direction of travel at up to 2 times your speed. I guess it ultimately depends on the dynamics in the gap of the fender. But there is a reason why formula one engineers for example wish they could have fenders.
Anyways. Were talking aero and weight of a beach cruiser here.

When I'm cruising and I see a long straightaway I'm not going to stick to 5mph, I'm going to crank that single speed up to 15 whenever I can and at those speeds you do feel a difference however minor it is

Makes little sense as all aero profiles will be disatvantageous if the aparent wind is not straight on or close to. So when you don't habitually go fast even a very light breeze will likely require extra effort feom you.

It's literally the simplest bicycle, it's two wheels and a crankset. You cannot get any simpler than a Cruiser anon. I get on my Cruiser and with no effort I'm cruising along at 10-15 mph, it's a cruiser. I swear to God you pretentious twats will just invent reasons to not like things unless it's some overpriced mountain bike that you have sitting in your garage 90 percent of the time

I just got back from a 20 mile round trip ride on my Cruiser and I gotta say, it's nice not having to focus on gear shifting autism and be in a comfortable upright position the entire time with plenty of visibility and not having to look like some tryhard twat. There's something to be said about using them for longer distances that I think most people sleep on.

Not much to be honest, although they do usually make better "jack-of-all-trades" bikes with fat tires making them fairly easy to go between roads and shittier roads or flat dirt/gravel
