Only to then say "well of course we can't expect every city to be Amsterdam but they really all should". While ignoring the obvious fact that the rebuilding of dutch cities was only possible because the Netherlands was one of the highest GDP per capita countries on the planet at the time while also being a small but densely populated place.
None of the Youtube pseuds ever aknowledge that the two main examples of "muh multimodal countries" in the NL and Denmark were only possible because they were the perfect storm of wealth and small distances. At that same time Belgium was losing a lot of its industry and is now lagging behind in certain infrastructure because when you have to deal with growing unemployment after the closure of coal mines and steel mills, you can't afford to build fancy bike roads and overhaul your urban fabric. Meanwhile if you just scale things up a bit, you get the situations of France and Germany where having very good regional or nationwide rail is great but still isn't enough to fully connect every area properly because guess what, rail over larger distances costs a lot.
And don't even get me started on wanking all over the dogshit that is actually riding the swiss rail network from armchair engineers who haven't been dealing with the scheduled six minutes stop in an empty station because guess what, THAT is how it all runs oh so well and has perfect punctuality : by stopping all the fucking time.

I lived in Netherlands and it is funny how flawed views people here. First of all Netherlands do not even have a lower than average car ownership rate. In fact driving is so important in the country that all the highways are free. It is so serious that no politician ever dares to bring it up. Meanwhile in almost every other country on the continent highways have tools. The speed limit during from early morning to late (6am to 7pm) is 100km/h!!!! on the highways which is genuinely the most insane thing anyone has ever done in terms of highways. Imagine driving to Netherlands through/from Germany with the limitless autobahn where you can comfortable drive at 150-200km/h and then you have to crawl through with 100km/h for HOURS. It is brutal and the worst highway experience I ever had in any country. And somehow it is still worth it because EVERYONE in that country commutes at peak hours. You would think with all the part-time jobs there it would spread out but NO. Peak-hour commuter trains are brutal in that country meanwhile during the vast majority of time during the day the trains run basically empty. And I dont even get this logic behind "You know what in the Netherlands it is not just good to bike, it is good to drive too" NO FUCK NO. There is NOTHING good about having to crawl with 100km/h on a fucking HIGHWAY and it is not fun to drive all those tight one lane streets if you have to go inside the city and dodge all those suicidal bikers.
