I think the bike in your pic looks pretty sick, like something from a Frutiger Metro wallpaper come to life, like it's a bike from a year 3000 that we're all being promised but will never have.
You probably look like a jackass actually riding it though, so to me unless there's real aero considerations in practical scenarios these just feel like an excuse for industrial designers to flex on eachother rather than a vehicle I'd ever want to own myself.

I'm glad the UCI upholds the dignity of the sport and protects us from all this gay shit

They needed to draw a line somewhere, else we'd be forced to watch pic related racing.

let's just make this into an /n/ themed race:
In the morning if the day of the race you're not allowed to have a vehicke with you. You're allowed to have 25 bux. You then get until evening to legally aquire any vehicle and if you feel so inclined make improvements, for which you can use your 25 bux and the 10 hours time. You may not accept help or donations from friends.
Then assemble, hand out manifestos and race it out.

This is an interesting premise but the only bikes you're getting for $25 in 2025 is kids stuff.
You'd have a peloton of autists riding Disney frozen huffys

designoids keep trying to literally re-invent the wheel and don't want to accept the reality that some designs are simply already perfected. some things just get worse no matter what you try.
the bicycle is perfectly fine. no reason to come up with a shittier version.

Well firstly it's meant to be a challenge and secondly I was going off of the situation in my cunt (germany) where 25€ is roughly the going rate for 'old nondescript bike from classifieds' and also if you go to any bicycle coop or similar and can sort of make a credibly claim to being 'in need' as in student, unemployed, pensioner... you'll get to buy a bike for 25, it will even be freshly 'serviced' or unironically taken apart only to mix and match with other bikes as part of a rehab program for excons. Muncipal services just nick the bikes they deem locked up in the same place for too long and bring them to that place, guys fresh out of the slammer get a first job there and service them and hand them out.
But yeah maybe one needs a few iteration to end up with a good number. Also I imagine for 25 you could get various vehicles that arent exactly bikes and at least win hearts and minds.

unrideable design study

pic rel actual post-UCI performance upgrade

agreed. Velomobile races are the most boring shit, although they are faster than grand tours races. Any kind of fairings should remain banned, otherwise you cannot see the suffering we're all here for.

UCI is a farlickers club who pulls decisions out of it's corrupt ass at random. I'm still not over them banning Obree for no reason.

Keirin racing is where its at. Everyone rides the same steel frame bike and each rider needs to assemble it pre-race on his own.

Duality of man:
UCI wants to prevent parting with tradition, makes rules accordingly. Everyone is seething.
NJS basically rule: THE BIKES MUST BE STRAIGHT OUT OF THE 60s! Everyone gets wet in their panties.
It's almost as if picrel.

Tbh I absolutely agree regarding obree. That was autistic as fuck. They could just have allowed him to have it, sit back and wait, few years later it would be someone on a big brand bike again. But nah they couldn't have anyone win on a bike that isnt for sale off the shelf.

I am pretty sure if obree wasn't a turbo autist and didn't intentionally fuck up the hour record out of spite when some engineers made him a nice expensive bike they would have let it go but he had to be a loonix-tier weirdo and insist on riding washing machine parts super glued to paper airplane wings so he could say fuck you to everyone who ever helped him and at that level of organized athletics everyone has a massive fragile ego and the rest was history
