Elevator mechanic of /n/, post cool pics you got while working. Elevator enthousiast, post anything cool related to passenger or freight elevator. Escalators are accepted also.
>>2047248 (OP) Installation of the limits at the top of the shaft. These are meant to be used only in emergency, if the elevator goes past the top floor it will trip the switch and make it stop.
>>2047248 (OP) This is the remote we use to move the elevator while in construction mode. It's pretty straighforward: Up, Down, Enable, and emergency stop.
>>2047248 (OP) This was a special job where we had to cut a small section of the rail to change the rolling stock on a small freight elevator. Here you can see our welder soldering the rail back together.

>>2047277 Yeah definitly, found this picture online but it looks like a cheap harnest from what look like a third world country. Normally there's a shock absorber on the rope (kinda like a bungee) so your body doesn't get the shock of the fall.
What struck me on this picture is that he just climbs the beam structure of the building to install the rails and shaft equipment. Normally we would build a scaffold which would be much safer.
>>2047337 Why don't workers simply use rock climbing ropes and harnesses? They're designed for survivability of even deep falls and comfort even if you hang in there for a long time.
>>2047277 The harness in o/p's opening picture is not properly adjusted and his lanyard is seriously incorrect. It's also not an approved fall arrest type in my region and there are several safety violations in this picture. We're using this picture in next months safety meeting. heh..
