reality TV stars Todd and Julie Chrisley were freed from prison after they received a pardon from President Donald Trump on Wednesday.

Todd and Julie were sentenced to 12 and 7 years, respectively, for bank fraud and tax evasion in 2022.

The couple was convicted of conspiring to defraud community banks out of more than $30 million in fraudulent loans as well as tax evasion

The couple was initially indicted in August 2019, and a new indictment was later filed. They were found guilty in June 2022 of not only bank fraud and tax evasion, but also conspiring to defraud the IRS.

In the original filing, both Chrisleys were charged with one count of conspiracy to commit bank fraud, five counts of bank fraud, one count of conspiracy to defraud the United States and one count of tax fraud. Julie Chrisley was also charged with one count of wire fraud and one count of obstruction of justice.

Prosecutors found the couple guilty of submitting fake documents to banks when applying for loans.

Steal 30 million? No problem, Trump has stolen much more so he has your back. Borrow 20k to go to college? He is coming to put you in jail.

Alright, listen up jack, because I'm gonna only tell you this once.
US law is sacred. It maintains order in this country, and one of those sets of laws is the US tax code.
These taxes are important. They are used to subsidize great swaths of US industry.
Every time some scheming, conniving midwestern couple cheats on their taxes, they aren't just depriving money from the IRS. They're depriving money from the American corporations.
What are you going to tell that poor CEO of the Coca-Cola company when his tax rebate won't be enough to place another bottling plant on the last remaining freshwater spring in Mexico? His heart will break into a million microplastic pieces.
Just because Joseph Robinette Biden Jr. (peace be upon him) used his son to procure handies from third world energy magnates doesn't mean he's corrupt. He's doing what any other God-fearing, abortion-inducing democrat would do. He's simply looking to fill his pockets to the brim and get out while he still can. And isn't that what America's all about? Isn't that why migrants come here every single day?
We need to be considerate for the fact that, despite being afflicted with crippling bone cancer and dementia for six years, this man still had a heart of gold. And that gold is somewhere in an offshore bank account, ready and waiting for his family once they flee the country after it begins to collapse.

Alright, “DNC Shillbot 9000” — let’s pause for a second and acknowledge the irony of hiding behind a name that sounds like it was churned out by a satire generator. Maybe that’s not even your real handle, and maybe that’s fitting, because what you just posted doesn’t come off as serious either.

You talk about taxes like they're sacred — like the IRS is some kind of temple and cheating on your taxes is a mortal sin. But let’s not pretend taxes are a holy sacrament. They're not divine law; they’re state-mandated extractions. And most of them don’t go to help the poor, fix our schools, or protect the environment — they go to bail out massive corporations, bankroll endless wars, and feed a bureaucratic machine that’s more concerned with power than people.

You’re shedding crocodile tears over corporations not getting tax rebates? Please. These same corporations stash billions offshore, lay off workers, and pump toxins into communities — all while being handed subsidies paid for by people barely scraping by. And you’re upset because someone in the Midwest tried to hold on to a little more of what they earned?

If you really believe the moral high ground is siding with multinational conglomerates and corrupt political dynasties, then maybe it’s not the tax code that’s broken — maybe it’s your compas

None of those people have formally accepted those pardons.

That's actually a thing you have to do in court. Until and unless those people get charged for something for which they are pardoned and invoke the pardon in court, those pardons have not been accepted by them.

A pardon merely existing does not mean it has been accepted by the intended recipient. That's a formal legal process.

Presidents don't decide who is and is not guilty of a crime. We have courts for that.

If you meant why would presidents issue a pardon to someone they didn't think was guilty of a crime, there's plenty of precedent of presidents and governors pardoning people they believed were innocent (or were factually known to be innocent even though they had been found legally guilty). Pardons are faster and easier to obtain than formal exonerations and carry many of the same benefits. This is commonly done, for example, with people who have died since their conviction and can therefore no longer be exonerated in court.

Since people that haven't been convicted yet can't be exonerated, a pardon would be the only recourse for a president seeking to provide relief to charges for someone they believed innocent.

I'm glad I could answer your dumbass attempt at a gotcha question.

They still grant pardons to those they suspect of being guilty of such, and would need to admit guilt in order for the pardon to be validated.

You're also forgetting that guilt doesn't only exist in a legal context, and the necessity of granting a pardon to someone who hasn't been convicted of a crime is preceded by the reasonable assumption that they have committed a crime regardless.

Yes. And? These people have not admitted guilt other than Hunter Biden, who was guilty.

>You're also forgetting that guilt doesn't only exist in a legal context
I'm not forgetting that. I bring up legal vs factual guilt in that post.

>and the necessity of granting a pardon to someone who hasn't been convicted of a crime is preceded by the reasonable assumption that they have committed a crime regardless.
Why is that assumption reasonable either generally or in this specific case where we're dealing with a vindictive, serially corrupt felon who has a long history of targeting his political enemies with bogus legal proceedings? You can't just say shit and have it be true. As often as pardons are used to correct past injustices, I wouldn't even say that'd be a reasonable assumption if we weren't dealing with the orange shit stain.

Accepting a pardon can be used as evidence of guilt, but being pardoned cannot.

5/30/2025, 6:03:00 PM No.1408838
Hey Grok, some dipshit is pretending that a Trump lawyer got disbarred just for defending their client. Why are they a lying piece of shit?

The claim that a Trump lawyer was disbarred "just for defending their client" is misleading and oversimplifies the situation. Several lawyers associated with former President Donald Trump’s legal efforts, particularly those related to challenging the 2020 election results, have faced disbarment or sanctions, but not simply for representing him. The reasons typically involve professional misconduct, such as making false or misleading statements, filing frivolous lawsuits, or engaging in actions deemed unethical under legal ethics rules. Here’s why the claim doesn’t hold up:

Rudy Giuliani: Disbarred in New York and Washington, D.C., for making "demonstrably false and misleading statements" about the 2020 election, including baseless claims of widespread voter fraud. Courts found he misused his position as Trump’s attorney to undermine the electoral process, violating ethical obligations. This wasn’t about defending a client but about advancing unfounded claims without evidence.

John Eastman: A California judge recommended disbarment in March 2024 for knowingly making false statements about election irregularities to support Trump’s efforts to overturn the 2020 election. His actions, including a memo suggesting Vice President Pence could delay electoral vote certification, were seen as violating California’s ethics rules by promoting baseless theories. He’s appealing, but the issue is his conduct, not just client representation.

Sidney Powell: Faced sanctions and disciplinary actions (though not yet disbarred) for filing lawsuits with baseless claims, like alleging a computer algorithm manipulated votes. She pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges in Georgia for election interference, agreeing to testify against co-defendants. Her actions went beyond zealous advocacy to misrepresenting facts in court.
Replies: >>1408841 >>1408898
Anonymous
5/30/2025, 6:04:23 PM No.1408839
Kenneth Chesebro: Had his law license suspended in New York after pleading guilty to conspiracy to commit filing false documents in Georgia’s election interference case. His role in the "fake electors" scheme wasn’t standard legal defense but an attempt to subvert election results, violating ethical standards.

Michael Cohen: Disbarred in New York in 2019 for crimes including lying to Congress and campaign finance violations tied to his work for Trump (e.g., hush money payments). His disbarment stemmed from criminal conduct, not just representing Trump.

The American Bar Association’s Model Rules of Professional Conduct (adopted by most states) prohibit lawyers from knowingly making false statements, filing frivolous claims, or engaging in dishonest conduct. These lawyers faced consequences for actions like submitting unverified or false claims, not for simply defending Trump. Critics of these disciplinary actions, like some on X, argue they’re politically motivated, but courts and bar associations have cited specific ethical violations, not just unpopular client representation.

Claiming they were disbarred "just for defending their client" ignores the documented misconduct. It’s a lazy distortion, often pushed to frame these lawyers as victims of political persecution rather than professionals held accountable for unethical behavior. Always dig into the specifics—courts don’t disbar people for doing their job properly.

They were using the first amendment to criticize the government's ability to conduct an election, the government countered with a tactical 'nuh-uh' and then disbarred them citing the previous 'nuh-uh' as evidence that they were lying.
